SMS Chat

QCall AI allows you to send and receive SMS messages using the phone numbers configured on your dialers. SMS chat is automatically available once you have a dialer set up with a valid phone number.

How to Send SMS

There are two ways to send SMS messages:

1. During a Call (Action-Based)

You can configure your assistant to send SMS messages during or after a call using the sendMessage action. Follow these steps:
  1. Go to Assistant Settings under Call Platforms
  2. In the Actions section, add a new action of type sendMessage
  3. Configure the SMS settings:
    • is_sms: Enable SMS messaging
    • description: Condition text describing when to send the SMS (e.g., “Send SMS when the customer requests a booking confirmation”)
    • content: The SMS message content (supports custom variables like {{first_name}})
    • end_call_sms: Send SMS after the call ends
    • end_call_sms_not_answered: Send SMS if the call is not answered

2. Bulk SMS via Campaigns

You can send SMS messages to an entire tag list by creating a campaign with SMS actions enabled.

SMS Best Practices

  • Keep messages concise and clear
  • Use custom variables to personalize messages
  • Include a clear call-to-action
  • Respect opt-out requests immediately
  • Check local regulations for SMS marketing compliance

Limitations

  • SMS messages are limited to 160 characters per segment
  • International SMS rates may vary based on your dialer provider
  • SMS delivery is not guaranteed and depends on carrier networks
